Book Review – Hetman: Hard Kill by Alex Shaw

Posted: 09/07/2013 in Book Reviews

An action packed short story that doesn’t disappoint.

If you are a fan of Alex Shaw’s Hetman series of novels you won’t be disappointed by this his latest instalment. Hetman: Hard Kill is a prequel to Shaw’s Adian Snow novels, and is set in 1994 Northern Ireland.   This action packed and well written short takes the reader back to Snow’s time in the SAS, where as a seconded member of the ultra-secretive intelligence unit known simply as “the Det” he finds himself fighting for his life, and also to maintain the fragile peace of the IRA ceasefire.

Shaw’s writing is fast paced, his action scenes gripping, and as always his descriptions of Special Forces tactics come across as being strikingly accurate and well researched.

For those of you who may not have come across Shaw’s work in the past Hetman: Hard Kill is a great introduction, and I guarantee that you’ll be downloading his other books in short order.
